UNITED STATES OF APATHY

A famous man once stated, 'How fortunate for governments that the people they administer don't think.' That man was Adolf Hitler.
(see this quote and more at www.brainyquote.com/quotes/quotes/a/adolfhitle384444.html )

It's a good thing for the current American political leadership that most Americans don't think much about politics or social-geopolitical issues, that's how the Senate Millionaires Club keeps itself in power and keeps their own children (except for Sen. Jim Webb's son who's serving in Iraq but 1 out of 435 ain't bad) and grandchildren out of harm's way in the War on Terror. Almost half of the U.S. Senate is comprised of millionaires, who once elected, tend to linger on for decades, like Robt Byrd of WV.
See this link for details -- www.cnn.com/2003/ALLPOLITICS/06/13/senators.finances/

It frequently amazes me that CNN or HNN or Fox will stop in the middle of a serious story on real issues to show Paris Hilton being led to or from jail, or Anna Nicole Smith's circus/trainwreck of a life and death being played out on court TV cameras, or OJ getting busted in Vegas, or other nonsense. Of course the masses don't think about issues, they're being force-fed a steady diet of tabloid pablum.

If we were back in the 60's, there would have been massive peace marches on the Capital to get out of Iraq, once we found out there were no WMD's or links to 9/11. But we all meekly tuned in to CNN to watch Saddam get executed, because - hey, getting rid of Saddam was a good substitute excuse for spending $12 Billion a month.

That's one reason, as a conservative, I miss Reagan and his admin, they were savvy, and would have kept Saddam in power and armed both Iraq and Iran and let them kill each other off, as well as keep them busy so as not to cause international mischief, plus keep their money going to war financing instead or developing WMDs.

And just another comment on conservatives: a neo-con is just a liberal internationalist in conservative disguise, and the neo-cons never really were cured of their lust for big government, and I can't find any neo-cons who served in the military either, hence the more appropriate name, 'chicken-hawks.'

Not only are American's apathetic towards studying and understanding the real problems facing our country, compared to other countries, we tend not to go to the polls and vote. In a study of national voter turnout from 1945 to 2005, the U.S. ranked 139th among 172 nations, per this link: http://www.idea.int/vt/survey/voter_turnout_pop2.cfm

Sure, one can argue that some countries on the list are dictatorships with one-party elections and a mandatory voter participation, but there seems to be in our low ranking a 'national malaise', to borrow a quote from Walter Mondale. That the adjective 'malaise' is appropriate in describing today's America is disturbing, and again that should make true conservatives nostalgic for the days of Reagan, who ridiculed Mondale as 'Vice President Malaise' in one of the presidential debates. But let's not just daydream and lose ourselves temporarily in the nostalgia, but instead ACT NOW to retake our government!!!

Well, in other blogs, I may have been a little harsh in criticizing Bush and the 109th Republican-led, scandal-ridden 'do-nothing' Congress. But as a scientist I only base my conclusions on facts, per these links:

Bush Presidency:

109th Congress:

Well, so as to be an equal opportunity government/political critic, Hillary is having more and more trouble being in the campaign spotlight and hiding her true nature:

nohillaryclinton.com/2007/10/31/halloween-hillary-huma-and-hidden-sex-affair-story/times(Clinton Family Values - made in Hollywood).

And judge for yourself whether O'Bama is unpatriotic and has accomplished anything in his brief Senate career other than run for president and give inspiring speaches. (Note on inspiring speeches, if you consult your history books, that's one of the main reasons for the electoral college, to prevent some dangerous or unqualified demagogue from hi-jacking the presidency with eloquent, inspiring, albeit ultimately empty words... http://writ.news.findlaw.com/amar/20011130.html )

Videos about O'Bama:

(how can someone NOT salute the Flag during the National Anthem?)

Small town American's should be outraged by O'Bama's recent campaign trail comments: http://blog.bobbarr2008.com/2008/04/13/barr-obamas-analysis-is-way-off-base-its-awfully-simplistic-and-very-arrogant/

Keep an eye on Bob Barr, he could be our next President! more on that below....

And finally, four videos on O'Bama from the black preacher who's NOT O'Bama's preacher:

and last but not least on O'Bama's chief propagandist:

In the meantime, real conservatives should consider supporting Bob Barr for President, former Republican turned Libertarian:

Last but not least, for those needing real news about real issues - without any partisan propaganda, and not skewed to other nations' domestic agendas - watch Lou Dobbs each night at 7:00 instead of the network news and check Dobb's out online at http://www.cnn.com/CNN/Programs/lou.dobbs.tonight/
